Recipient of 1979's U.S. Terpsichore's Hall of Fame Award for services to American dancing.
Retired from competition dancing in 1979.
Began performing as a teenager and has danced in virtually every ballroom venue in the United States as well as special appearances at Lincoln Center's New York State Theater, 92nd Street Y's Buttenwieser Hall, and the Grand Ballroom of the Roosevelt Hotel, NYC.Featured in the award winning documentary, Partners, produced and directed by Larry Schulz, and aired on Bravo Arts television. Profiled on WNBC-TV and other television and radio stations.
TEACHER
Popular teacher of social and competitive dancing. Repertoire spans the classic Ballroom dances of the 20th Century, from Salsa and Argentine Tango to Swing and Viennese Waltz. An authority on the dances of Fred Astaire. Has reconstructed, performed and taught many of Astaire's classic duets including the Cheek to Cheek, I'm Old Fashioned, and Never Gonna Dance routines.
BACKGROUND
Born in Old Kirpatrick, Scotland. Dance training includes Ballroom, Latin, Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Modern, Character and Scottish dancing. Amateur dance champion. Winner of the prestigious Glasgow Ballet Cup at the Edinburgh Festival and Scottish Junior State Championship. Emigrated to the United States in 1970. Married and resides in New York City with her husband and two sons.
