Welcome to the Sandra Cameron Dance Center and the exciting world of social dancing. The studio’s wide range of classes reflects the rich cultural diversity of an extraordinary city. Here you can study classic American dances like Swing, Foxtrot and Hip Hop, as well as Salsa, Argentine Tango, Milonga, Merengue, Bachata, Viennese Waltz and much more.

Sandra Cameron, a three-time United States Professional Ballroom Champion (1976, 1977, 1978), opened the Sandra Cameron Dance Center in 1980. Born and raised in Scotland, Ms. Cameron immigrated to the United States in 1970, settling in New York in 1975. Since retiring from competition dancing, she and her husband, Larry Schulz, have been fascinated by the rich traditions of social dance. They are committed to preserving classic dances like Savoy Lindy Hop and Argentine Tango and teaching contemporary dances like Salsa, Merengue, Samba and Hip Hop in their most authentic form. The studio played a major role in the Swing revival by luring Savoy Ballroom greats Al Minns and Frankie Manning out of retirement. The Sandra Cameron Dance Center was also the first New York dance studio to offer classes in Argentine Tango, sparking a renaissance in Buenos Aires's signature dance.

For 27 years the Sandra Cameron Dance Center has been a major innovator and influential trendsetter on the Ballroom dance scene in New York City. Today, the studio offers over 80 classes a week in social dancing from Basic to Advanced level. In addition, the studio frequently holds special workshops with master teachers from all over the world and hosts Saturday dances at the 92nd Street Y, one of New York's great cultural institutions.
