picture of dancersThe Sandra Cameron Dance Center's Swing program teaches all styles of social jazz dancing, from the Peabody of the early Teens to the Lindy Hop of the Thirties and Forties to more recent forms rooted in the jazz  tradition, such as Hip Hop and Break dancing.

The Swing program began in 1981, when Sandra Cameron brought Al Minns, one of the best dancers of Harlem's famed Savoy Ballroom, out of dance retirement to teach Lindy Hop (also known as Swing or Jitterbug) to an eager group of enthusiasts. Since its inception, the Swing program has maintained strong ties to Harlem, the center of jazz creativity. Three members of Whitey's Lindy Hoppers, the world famous dance troupe of the 30s and 40s, have taught at the studio, including the most recognized Lindy Hop dancer in the world, Frankie Manning, who has been teaching at the studio since 1985.

More than 25 years later, Sandra Cameron Dance Center keeps swingin' with the most experienced teaching staff in the city.
